MEMBERS ZOOM Meeting to discuss COVID-19 issues
May 06 - 1:00 EDT / 11:00 PDT
Dear AMSMIC Members:
I hope this email finds you well in this time of COVID-19. In the past few months so much has changed in the way we do business and carry out our research and teaching missions. In response to the challenges we face, AMSMIC will hold a ZOOM meeting open to the membership on Wednesday May 06 at 2:00 pm (EDT) 11:00 am (PDT).
The purpose of the meeting is to share innovative strategies and ideas that the membership has developed to overcome obstacles encountered because of the pandemic.
Discussions to include:
-NIAID Response to COVID-19 - Matthew Fenton, PhD
-Strategies in place for conducting COVID-19 research and resources for redirecting research towards COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2
-Maintaining the research workforce during times of laboratory shutdowns and/or curtailment of activities.
-Strategies to keep graduate students engaged during laboratory closures.
-Strategies to maintain social distancing in the research laboratory setting.
-Strategies for responding to revenue shortfalls and budget cuts.
-Pre-Meeting Survey - To make the meeting most useful and to you, I am asking that you fill out a survey. The results will be used to guide our discussions on Wednesday and will be distributed to you prior to the meeting.
If you, or your institution, have developed innovative strategies to deal with any of the above topics and would like to share your experiences, please let me know by Monday May 04th so that you can be included on the agenda.
Please feel free to suggest other topics that you think the membership would be interested in discussing during the meeting.
Zoom Link and password will be sent to members only in advance.
